The Scottish Parliament now based down at the very foot of the Royal Mile was situated here until 1707. The impressive and imposing structure of some jails dominates the high street but a little exploration uncovered Parliament Square. From the meadow ball and continuing to Holly root and a very fruit of the mile is the Canongate. It takes its name from the Augustinian monks or canons that used to govern the area when it was its own separate borough prior to 1856. 05.    Royal Yacht Britannia

08.    Princes Street and Gardens

Princes Street and Gardens run parallel, The street was named by King George III in honor of his two eldest sons, Prince George, and Prince Fredrick. Prince Street is the long shopping thoroughfare that along with princess Street Gardens separates the old and new town of Edinburgh.
